TFS News: 2022 AGM and Prize Draw Winner
What is the Annual General Meeting (AGM)?
Each mutual organisation has an Annual General Meeting (AGM), at which it reports to its members on its results for the previous year and plans for the organisation’s future. Members have a right to quiz the Board and vote on important matters (AFM, 2019).
Our members’ opinions matter and our AGM is a great opportunity for them to be shared. Every member is given the chance to attend, vote and share feedback on the service and products that we provide to them.
When is the AGM?
After two years of holding the Society’s AGM remotely due to the pandemic, we were pleased to hold this year’s event in person.
Our 2022 AGM was held on Tuesday 14 June at 12:00 pm in London and was the 108th AGM of the Society.
How can I vote?
In line with the Government’s strategy of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, here at TFS we are working hard to reduce our carbon footprint and help towards a greener environment.
This is why, we send our members detailed instructions on how to submit their AGM voting online prior to the event.
Prize Draw
In 2022 we introduced a prize draw, as part of our efforts to encourage members to vote online rather than by post.
All members who voted online were entered into a prize draw with a chance to win an Apple iPad. The winner then had the option to either take the iPad or we would donate £500 to the charity of their choice.
The draw was made at the AGM and the lucky member was notified shortly after the event. The winner, who has been a member of the Society since 1965, chose an iPad as their prize, which was posted to them right away.
Is the AGM the only way I can provide feedback to the Society?
We are interested in our members’ feedback and always encourage them to share their views.

We value all feedback, as we aim to continuously improve our products and services and respond to the changing needs of our members.
2022 AGM Resolutions
At the 2022 AGM, a total of 8 resolutions were proposed and resolved. Including the appointment of Auditors, Chief Actuary and With-Profits Actuary for 2022. Other matters included the election and re-election of members of the Board of Management.
Once again, we would like to thank all of our members for their continued support for the Transport Friendly Society. TFS has been around in one form or another since 1885 and we are proud to continue serving those involved in the passenger transport industry and their families and friends.
